Over time the DK motors tend to get worn out and stuck, encoder face gets worn in tracks, this causes bad throttle response, ruff idle and EML light comes on sending the engine into limp home mode. New throttle bodies from the dealer are very expensive, upwards of $2000 ea. If you buy used they probably have already failed or will fail soon. Refurbished throttle bodies will last you just as long as the new ones would.  All M70 S70 throttle bodies gradually start under performing delaying throttle response and eventually fail all together.**_

Removal of your throttles takes no more than 15min per side. Each throttle is held on by 4 10mm bolts and a hose at the bottom making it very easy to remove and re install, new gaskets between the throttle and the manifold are provided as a part of the service.

There is a specific throttle synchronization procedure that you need to follow once the new units are installed. Here it is:

1. Run engine to operating temperature

2. In 1st gear run the engine up to 5000 rpm and then let it coast down (still in 1st) down to idle and let it idle for 10 seconds

3. Do step 2 two more times for a total of three times.

4.Place the car in neutral or park

5. Idle for at least 5 minutes.

6. Shut the engine off for 10 seconds

7. Restart the engine

SHIPPING OUTSIDE THE USA IS $80

Some people claim to refurbish throttle bodies but instead only clean them up. I have a different approach returning them to original Bosh factory spec. With time the encoder face gets "worn in" from encoder whiskers traveling on it's surface, because of this condition no matter how much you clean the throttle it will still under perform and throttle response will be delayed/sluggish. Over the years I have developed a procedure where I re position each encoder whisker a fraction of a mm at a time onto unused encoder face surface, then re test the throttle electrically until it is back to factory new specification. This is very time consuming procedure requiring skill but this is the only way to truly refurbish these throttles.  Besides this each throttle body gets disassembled to the lower gears, every part is inspected and replaced as needed, rust in the gears is eliminated, commutator brushes are replaced if worn beyond 40%, electrically bench tested for proper operation after the refurbishment.  In the end the throttle body is brought back to like new working condition.  I have low mileage E38 Siemens throttles for M73 V12 engines and can refurbish electronic EML throttles or DK motors for E32 735i / E34 535i M30 V6 BMW.
