It was screwed to the back of the shift tube, above the steering column and forward of the steering wheel. It has a little hook on it to connect to the cable, wire or thread that runs to the PRNDL or gear indicator, and a sort of ball-and-socket to connect to the shifter cable that runs to the transmission.
