This is a straight, clean, unmodified example of one of Lexus's flagship vehicles, that has become a modern classic. The car is equipped with a 4.0L V8, which was rated at 290 horsepower in late production SC400s. It comes with a 5-speed automatic transmission, which replaced the 4-speed for the 1998 model year. This was my father's car, which he purchased 7 years ago when he was in his late 70s and drove sparingly. It was sold new in Pennsylvania and the car has had 3 owners; it spent most of its life in Florida and South Dakota. There is no rust -- it was never driven on salted roads in the midwest. Mechanically excellent condition. It recently had new brake pads and rotors front and rear, a new battery, and had the (very expensive!) timing belt service completed, so you don't need to worry about that. Tires (Kelly Chargers) are in good shape with good tread left; date code of 15th week of 2015. My father was meticulous in his car maintenance and this car was never abused and was always well-maintained and cared for. It is ready to drive and enjoy.

All of the interior features work correctly. Stock 5-spoke alloy wheels. Unmodified interior of tan leather, which includes the original Nakamichi stereo with trunk-mounted CD changer. The wood veneers are dark and glossy.  Excellent car all around.

The interior is in very good condition, with minor wear (driver's side bolster and one area on the center console cover that is ratty -- it could easily be replaced or recovered). The passenger seat and back seats look nearly new. The body is in good shape, but there are minor paint imperfections to be aware of -- specifically, there is clear coat delamination on the rear spoiler & passenger mirror; 2 minor areas of paint crack on the rear bumper; some road rash to the underside of the front bumper; and a very few minor scuffs . I have been careful to photograph all of these areas and include these pictures, so you can clearly see them.

This is a really excellent example of a classic and very desirable Lexus. Driving this car, it's clear why it has been become such a sought-after modern classic. Car is located in Vermillion, SD (2 hours from Omaha, NE; an hour south of Sioux Falls, SD; 30 minutes from Sioux City, IA; 5 hours from Minneapolis, MN).

Regarding the price, I did a nationwide search in the usual sources (you probably know them) on recently sold and currently available Lexus SC400s, with mileage between 85k and 120k (this one is 97.7k), and the years 1996-2000 (this one is 1998). Disregarding the rare lower mileage (pricey!) and more common higher mileage cars (still pricey!) as noted, the average asking price was about $15,700 and the average sales price was about $13,600. I have priced this car at what I view as a reasonable $9,700 (reduced by $3,000!). I arrived at this price from these figures, coupled with the minor paint issues with this car that the new owner can address (or not; it really is a fine looking car as is, and these issues don't detract much from its presentation). Payment via wire transfer, cash on pickup, or something else secure that we both agree on.
