1984 Datsun 300zx Turbo Borg Warner T5 5-speed Manual Transmission - Inspected, Repaired, and Tested

For your consideration is a 5-speed overdrive transmission and shifter removed from an '84 300zx Turbo parts car many years ago.   Mileage not known.   This is the rare Borg Warner T5 transmission that many car enthusiasts like because the unit is rather tough and because the belhousing can be easily removed and exchanged with one that fits a different motor.

INSPECTED, SEALED, and TESTED:  I took the transmission to a manual transmission specialist who opened and inspected all the gears, bearings, and synchro gears for adverse wear.   He found worn parts inside this transmission and made the following repairs:

1.   Installed 4 new synchro gears

2.   Installed new seals front and rear

All other parts inside this transmission were inspected and found to be in good condition.

Later, I tested the trans by attaching the shifter, and running through all the gears at about 1000 rpm using a drill motor as a drive device. The trans shifted and sounded just fine in all gears during this testing. It finds all gears, including reverse, and does so without grinding. Actually quite smooth.   I have not run this unit in a car, but I expect it to be in good running condition.   I am 100% sure this transmission will work just fine.
