FORD LAKEWOOD BLOWPROOF BELLHOUSING SBF MUSTANG 5.0 T5 SCATTER SHIELD 302 79-93

This is a older blowproof steel bellhousing made by Lakewood .

This one was made before they started stamping the steel with a part number so this one has no markings.

I believe the original part number would be 15203.

The 15203 was designed to fit 1979-93 Mustang and 1979-86 Mercury Capri.

It was originally designed for use with the T5 transmission but I have read that it can also be used with the TKO 500/600 Ford and TREMEC TR3550.

It will fit small block Ford engines with a 6 bolt bellhousing pattern (289-302-351-w and 351-c).

This bellhousing was designed to keep an exploding clutch, pressure plate or flywheel from coming through the floor of the car. Factory originals are just not designed for the forces that are unleashed when something comes apart at high rpm.

This is a thick and heavy part made from "hydro formed construction" which means it is one piece of steel that was stamped in a huge hydraulic press.

The bellhousing has a weight of 33 lbs before boxing.

The original paint was bad so it was blasted clean, primed and painted.

The threads were chased to remove excess paint.**All the threaded holes have really nice clean threads.**

It looks as though it has had some trimming done on the edge around the starter area (see pictures). Trimming is commonly done on these so the exhaust system will fit without hitting.

*Make sure you do your own research on which bellhousing will correctly fit your motor and transmission.

*No block plate or hardware included.

Overall a real quality built part that's still in great shape.
