This is an original GM aluminum manual transmission bellhousing. The casting number is 3849309. The 3849309 bellhousing was made specifically for 1962-1967 Chevy II/Nova and Pontiac Acadian applications. I believe this was used on V8 applications only. The angled clutch fork is unique to Chevy II/Nova applications. The 6 cylinder bellhousing was similar but had a smaller hole in the center to index with the transmission bearing retainer.   These bellhousings were fairly rare when new and are very hard to find todat.. Finding an original today that has not been broken, modified, or repaired can be quite a task. Don't miss this awesome original unit!

This bellhousing is in good original condition overall as shown. It is in bare aluminum finish with no paint or coatings. It has never been sand or glass bead blasted and has an awesome original finish. There is also no pitting or corrosion. All threads are in very good shape with no thread inserts or helicoils.
